Dothill Primary School

update from Mrs Thomas re: school closure Friday 09 01 26

Dear Parents and Carers, as you are aware, the school is closed today due to the impact of Storm Goretti. We hope you and your families are keeping safe and warm.

While many families will simply enjoy the day together, we understand that some parents may need to work from home and would appreciate ideas to keep children engaged. Teachers have updated the class homework pages on the school website with suggested activities for today. These include:

  • Regular homework tasks such as reading, spellings, and Times Tables Rock Stars.
  • Snow-themed activities for a bit of fun and creativity:
    • Build a snowman or enjoy some time outdoors if it’s safe to do so.
    • Research snow and weather events and their impact around the world.
    • Draw a snowy scene or write a snowy story or newspaper article.

In addition, this is a great opportunity to support our local community. If it’s safe and practical, you may want to encourage your children to help clear paths for elderly or vulnerable neighbours or check in on them to ensure they are warm and have what they need. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference during severe weather.

These activities are completely optional, but they’re there if you’d like something structured for your child.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe and enjoy the snow!

Kind regards,

Mrs J Thomas

Head Teacher
