Dothill Primary School

School and parent communication - 03 09 24

It is so important that we have good communication between school and home, and below are some of the ways we can keep those lines open.

There will be staff outside on duty every day for you to speak with should you need to. In addition, TAs will be available at the classroom door each morning if you have any class-based concerns or questions at all, whether it is which day to bring a swimming kit to school, where packed lunches are stored or worries of any other nature. We have a very experienced team who are all here to help.

Please note that teachers will be busy preparing to teach first thing in the morning, so should you need to speak with them, you can pass any urgent messages to the class TA or speak with the teacher at the end of the school day or alternatively contact the school office who can arrange an appointment for you.

School office email: a3368@telford.gov.uk and contactable by telephone on 01952 386870. Please ensure we have the correct details for you so that when we send out messages, you can receive them via email, and also that we have your most up to date telephone numbers.

There are three phase leaders this year who you can contact at the following email addresses:

Mr Kirkpatrick, phase leader for Year 6 and 5: DothillPhaseLeaderUKS2@taw.org.uk

Mrs Willoughby, phase leader for Year 4, 3 and 2: DothillPhaseLeaderLKS2@taw.org.uk

Mrs Wood, phase leader for Year 1 and Reception: DothillPhaseLeaderEYFS@taw.org.uk

Our new and very experienced SENDCo is Miss Brotherton, and our pastoral team are Mrs Sturmey and Miss Thornhill. Please contact school if you need to make an appointment to speak with them.

Each class will post information about what your child is learning on their website page which you will find in the ‘parent’ section. This will be updated each half term, and you will also find important information such as PE days, homework and updates of what your child has been up to in school. Children will continue to come into school on their PE day in their kit.

Other messages

The gates and classroom doors open at 8:30 and the school day starts at 8:45. Please ensure that your child is on time to be ready to begin learning with the rest of their class each day. This will ensure they have the best start to every day. We have recently updated our attendance policy in line with new government statutory requirements. More information can be found on our website.   Please note, year 5 and 6 children will now finish school at 3:15pm.  Also, the gates will now open at 3:10pm for parents/carers to enter the site to collect their children at 3:15pm.

School dinners: we would urge ALL children in Reception and Key Stage 1 to have the free school meals on offer – this is the best way you can ensure they have a healthy and nutritious lunch, and will support you to ensure they develop a positive relationship with food, are happy to try new things and have a good afternoon with full tummies! Should you have concerns, or your child has dietary requirements, we will be able to support you.

If your child is in Key Stage 2, please contact the office if you think you may qualify for Free School Meals, as we can arrange this for you.

Mobile phones: no child should bring a mobile phone into school. However, we recognise those children who have permission to walk home alone in year 5 and 6 may have mobiles. For safeguarding and safety reasons they MUST hand phones in to their TA on arrival each morning, and their devices will be stored safely in the office before they are given back at the end of the day. Please note we will not accept responsibility for any damage to phones at school.

The autumn term promises to be an exciting one, full of fun learning opportunities and interesting events to enjoy together and we very much look forward to working with you.
