Dothill Primary School

Head Teacher's Welcome

Dear Parents/Carers. I hope you and all your family have had an enjoyable summer break and managed to have some time together to relax and recharge.

It gives me great pleasure to write my first welcome letter to you as the new head teacher of Dothill Primary School. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen to continue to build upon the success the school has already achieved under the leadership of Mrs Butler.

I have been assistant head teacher at Newdale since 2018. As a parent of four children, I know how important the primary years are, and take on board the great responsibility that our staff and I hold to ensure that the highest standards of teaching and learning are maintained. I know how rightly proud the staff and wider school community are on the recent Ofsted report which highlighted just what a fabulous place Dothill is, with a hugely committed team and wonderful children – a superb place for a new head to begin! Together with the rest of the school team, we are all extremely excited about the journey ahead.

As the leader of the school, my main priority is to ensure that your child is happy and safe. The wellbeing of the children and staff is already at the heart of Dothill and this is something I will continue to invest in. Children at Dothill have good academic outcomes and we know that this is because the children are in the best place to learn, and the teachers are in the best place to teach.

I strongly believe in providing the children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to grow and develop positively in a variety of ways and I know that this is already something the Dothill team are proud of and already plan to continue.

With experience as both a teacher and a parent, I really do know how important working in partnership with parents is for all children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I firmly believe that trust and communication between school and parents is vital and I very much look forward to getting to know the whole school community so we can work together with your children at the heart of everything we do.

You can be assured that as Headteacher, I will strive to ensure the best education is on offer for your child whilst they are members of our school family. Please do come up and introduce yourselves outside school – I will attempt to be at the gate before and after school each day and I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Jenny Thomas
