VE Day
Date: 08 May 2025
We will be marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a whole school celebration.
This will involve a whole school assembly, led by the deputy mayor, as well as history lessons across school focussing on why VE Day is commemorated.
There will be special themed lunch on Thursday 8th May, which will include chicken pie with mashed potato and Victoria sponge cake for pudding.
The themed lunch will be followed by an afternoon of celebrations with parties in class. Children will be making decorations, learning wartime songs and playing old-fashioned games. All children are invited to come to school in party clothes for the day.
Please note: children in class 2S will celebrate VE day on Wednesday 7th May instead of 8th May due to their visit to Wightwick Manor.
If you have friends or family with stories or photos from World War II or VE Day, please ask them if they would consider sharing these with our pupils to mark this special anniversary.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Hannah Thackray
History Subject Leader
